The Slovak train refurbishment specialist, ZOS-Zvolen, has chosen Metalastik Metacone rubber-metal bonded engine mounts from Trelleborg Industrial AVS for its new two-car Class 813/913 DMUs which are currently being built at the company’s factory in Zvolen.
The DMU is made up from two Type 011 (Bzmot) non-powered trailers, which first entered service in 1973; the Class 813 being the power car and the Class 913 a driving trailer. It is powered by a 257kW MAN engine with a Voith automatic transmission installed in the original undercarriage frame. The Metalastik Metacones support the engine in a threepoint mounting system designed to give optimum isolation of noise and vibration.
The 813/913 has a total capacity of 194 passengers with 35 seats in the railcar and 48 in the trailer.
Metalastik Metacone units are specially designed for applications where high load capacity (200 to 5000kg per unit) is combined with relatively large static deflections in an axial direction with a fail-safe design. Their high loading for a given size is obtained by utilising the properties of the rubber to best advantage in both compression and shear.
Zvolen is among Slovakia’s most significant companies, with a history going back to 1892. It has two main divisions: LOKO concentrates on reconstruction and repair of rail vehicles, while SV focuses on non-rail business.
