Implement the Quality System
Shopfloor-Online can help to implement and manage a quality system by defining the quality control plan e.g the checks that need to be carried out

  • Specify the product specifications
  • Define the quality checks: what is measured, how many samples, the frequency etc.
  • Quality checks can include variables and attributes (defects)
  • Connect hand-held gauges so that data passes directly to the data entry screens
  • Link in automatic gauges which produce measurement data in more complex forms (like a text file or a RS232 string)
  • Many reports are available to show how the quality plan is being met, including checks not done, Out of Spec /Out of control violations, alarm response etc.

Customer Audits
Many companies are subject to customer compliance requirements and of course audits. Audits typically require proof that the Quality System is being executed, and frequently they look for proof that checks are being carried out as required. Compiling and presenting the information can be time consuming. The credibility of the data can also be questionable. With Shopfloor-Online all checks are recorded Information such as operators date and time of log on, when a check was made are all recorded automatically. If there is a problem then historical data can be retrieved for audits to show customers the checks that were carried out. Often Shopfloor-Online is cited as a key success point of an audit.

SPC
Operators are able to monitor processes in real-time -Shopfloor-Online alerts operators to process changes as they happen, if a process is out of spec or out of control attention is drawn to it and costly bad runs are avoided.

There is the ability to automatically raise alarms via email, pagers, on screen or SMS text services on predefined conditions.

6 Sigma and Process Improvement
The Plan-Do- Analyse- Act cycle requires data. Shopfloor-Online holds all the data you need, not just quality data but materials, process data, and production data. It is readily accessible for analysis, reporting and extracts for process improvement teams.

Lab Checks
Often Lab checks have been treated separately, yet there is no need. Shopfloor-Online can easily record checks carried out in the lab as well as those on the line. It can interface to complex measuring systems and record the data in the same way. It can of course alert operators on the machines to problems flagged up by lab checks.
