Rapid prototyping systems manufacturer Stratasys has introduced a new modelling material blend of polycarbonate and ABS plastic. Available through Laser Lines, PC-ABS is a blend often used in manufacturing today’s plastic products, but is only now available for rapid prototyping. PC-ABS combines the strength of PC with the flexibility of ABS. It gives manufacturers the ability to model from the same material as their end products, allowing them to predict better the mechanical properties of end products composed of PC and ABS blends.
This new material is compatible with Stratasys’ WaterWorks water-soluble support material, which permits handsfree support removal to shorten the modelling process. Because of the soluble supports, PC-ABS is said to allow excellent feature detail, design freedoms and single-build assemblies.
