Super-thin stainless steel conveyor belts from Sandvik

A breakthrough in steel belt processing technology has enabled Sandvik Process Systems, a product area within Sandvik Materials Technology, to launch a range of super-thin stainless steel conveyor belts. Sandvik 1700SA stainless belt grade provides a viable alternative for applications previously only carried out using weaker or less hygienic materials, such as plastics. Its ease of cleaning, good wear and corrosionresistance and in-line ‘repairability’ make this new belt particularly suitable for use in hygiene critical sectorss such as electronics, food processing and pharmaceuticals.

A combination of high impact resistance and thermal conductivity means improved resistance to mechanical damage and to corrosion and distortion by fluctuations in temperature. This opens up opportunities for a range of freezing, cooling, drying and heating applications. Grade 1700SA comes in thicknesses from 0.6mm down to 0.2mm and in widths from 100 to 1000mm. Sandvik has developed special techniques to provide belts with special surface finishes: cold rolled and ground finishes are supplied as standard, but you can also choose perforated, polished, and ptfe or Teflon-coated.
