Getting storage down to a fine art

Excalibur partitioning from TroaxTroax has used its Excalibur double-skin solid steel partitioning to construct a high security facility for a fine art storage and shipping facility in London.

Each of the nine storage units can be leased by the company to its clients, ranging from galleries and museums to auction houses and private individuals. Troax designed the storage rooms, which are located on the ground floor and a mezzanine level, in conjunction with main project contractor Base-Line Storage Systems.

Excalibur partitioning has a double-skin design: its steel panels are of monobloc construction, with two steel skins separated by a composite insulating infill to give a strong, rigid structure. The partitioning also offers a good level of fire protection.Excalibur's modular design gives a high level of flexibility: these units were custom-designed to maximise the use of existing space at the storage facility, but they can be demounted and reconfigured should the need arise.

Base-Line's Michael Kemp said: "We regularly use Troax as we find they offer exactly the type of versatile, cost-effective partitioning systems we require."
