Troax custom-designs shelving system for new mothercare distribution centre
A wire mesh shelving system for Mothercare’s new £13 million distribution centre in Daventry has been custom designed by industrial storage specialist Troax.
The new shelving has been designed with safety and ease of use in mind and incorporates an integral back-stop to make loading and unloading easy and also prevents items falling off the shelves. Bito Storage supplied the shelving structures and racking throughout the new warehouse.
The shelving’s integral mid-span back-stop is formed out of the mesh panel itself, dividing the shelf in the centre. The triangular back-stop allows warehouse staff to easily slide boxes onto the shelving, preventing the boxes from being pushed too far. An added advantage is that boxes cannot slip over the edge of the shelving, ensuring complete safety for staff working in the aisles.

Troax’s shelving allows smoke and heat to filter through the rack to trigger smoke detection systems and allow the effective penetration of sprinkler systems in the event of a fire. In fact, this type of wire mesh shelving is being increasingly specified by insurance companies in order to comply with stringent Fire and Safety regulations.
