Touch sensitive, nearly indestructable keyboards from EAO
EAO, providers of Human Machine Interfaces, has unveiled a new way to create a personalised impact-resistant, vandal-resistant, oil and waterproof keypad or keyboard.
The TSK series is an innovative, versatile range of customisable, PCB-based products, featuring 12 and 16 button keypads, and a full-sized PC-style keyboard with the option of a touchpad mouse. Any custom layout from up to 128 keys can be created.
A typical TSK set-up comprises the desired PCB layout, connected to an interface card and then placed under a non-conductive, transparent plate such as polycarbonate or glass of up to 10mm thick.
EAO also offers a special version of the keypad suitable for use under double-glazed glass up to 24mm thick. The keyboard design and arrangement is created using supplied software, then printed on a plastic or paper overlay that is placed between the PCB and front plate.
Customers can create a unique design by inserting their logo into adaptable templates, or print directly onto the plate. The PCB keyboards are available in the standard layout for several languages and are compatible with most operating systems.
Also offered is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) complete kit, which comprises a PCB keyboard, PCB housing, interface card, cables and mounting kit. This technology is particularly suitable for use in polluted areas affected by dust, grease or ink particles suspended in the air; sterile environments cleaned using ultrasonic techniques; hygienic environments cleaned using high-pressure washing; medical equipment, explosive atmospheres; and public areas susceptible to vandalism.
