Peristaltic pumps help MW Polymers maximise gas leak repair efficiency

Leading gas leakage repair system manufacturer, MW Polymers, is using Watson-Marlow peristaltic pumps to help achieve fast delivery of its revolutionary two-part polymer Ecoseal system. The peristaltic pumps have not only cut filling and handling time in half; they have also improved delivery accuracy and helped simplify the dispensing process.

MW Polymers has developed a niche yet robust market by providing a repair service to the 12 million joints that connect the gas distribution pipes beneath Britain’s road network. Their recent Ecoseal innovation has pushed the company to the forefront of the industry.  Ecoseal can be used to provide a safe, permanent repair to joints, saving huge amounts of money and time.”

However, MW Polymers found that sourcing a reliable, fast, accurate and economic method of pumping Ecoseal was easier said than done. After trials with a number of other pump types, Watson-Marlow Bredel 620 Series dispensing pumps were chosen to deliver accurate, repeatable volumes  through a chemical-resistant tube element.

Many pumps find it extremely difficult to pump two different materials (with different viscosities) into the same component at the same time. For instance, one product might take 9 seconds to fill, while the other could take 12 seconds.
