Munich-based high-performance chain manufacturer Iwis Antriebssysteme has introduced its new Megalife range of maintenance-free power and free conveyor chains.

Megalife chains are applied in packaging and food processing, the electronics industry, PCB-production, conveyor systems, wood, glass and ceramics processing and in medical engineering.
In order to guarantee maintenance-free operation of the new power and free conveyor chains, Iwis has developed and patented a special link with specially sintered metal bushes and running rollers. In addition, the chains feature a built-in lubricant reservoir which supplies the chain links and running rollers with lubricant during the chain operation.
The surface of the chains are lubricant-free new and do not need to be relubricated during use; Megalife chains also remain clean throughout their service life and thus do not contaminate the products. Due to this fact, the chains perfectly fit in applications where relubrication is not possible or unadvisable.
Megalife power and free conveyor chains are exceptionally low wearing, even under extreme environmental conditions. The sintered metal running rollers reduce friction by up to 30 per cent, resulting in a substantial reduction of the required drive power and chain load.
Being easy to dismantle. the new chains simplify servicing and reduce downtime. Plastic and hardened steel versions of the conveyor chains (V2A-steel or nickel-plated) are also available.
Chains with steel rollers can be used at a temperature range from -40 °C to 160 °C, while versions with plastic conveying rollers are suitable for up to 80 °C.
Megalife power and free conveyor chains are available with pitches of 12.70 mm and 19.05 mm.
