Prinovis of Liverpool, one of the most advanced gravure printing facilities producing high-quality colour publications, is using equipment from strapping specialist Mosca to ensure that its high volumes of publications are strapped quickly and effectively. The plant pressroom’s four machines print 180,000 tonnes of paper each year: about 600 pallets of magazines or brochures a day.
This makes reliable strapping a must, and Pressroom Manager Gunter Dauerer says: “We need an unbelievable amount of bundling, so performance was critical.
Mosca was chosen following recommendations from our colleagues in Germany (Prinovis is Hamburgbased) who have used Mosca equipment in the past and found it to be the most reliable on the market.”
Prinovis Liverpool has installed around 30 Mosca machines in total, including the RO-TAI-5 specialist strapper for the graphics industry.
Able to strap 36 bundles/minute, it uses Mosca’s airless, all-electric technology which eliminates the need to use compressed air.
In addition, Mosca heads calibrated for wider strap have been installed into Prinovis’ log stackers to ensure that inset copies are neatly and efficiently stacked prior to being placed into magazines.
