Enhancements to Mosca’s MCB-2 in-line squarer bundler strapper for the corrugated industry involve auto-splicing and hinge-top opening for improved performance and user operation.
“The MCB-2 is designed for easy installation and convenient operation,” comments Peter Foster, MD of Mosca Direct, the company’s wholly-owned UK subsidiary.
“The new features further deliver on these factors.”
Auto-splicing is achieved using two coils. When one coil ends, the machine automatically switches to the other so that the operator can easily put on a new coil without the need to stop the line. The hinge-top opening enables ease of access for essential maintenance operations.
These new features join the MCB-2’s existing innovations, which include an electro-mechanical press for product compression that is integrated into the strapping unit for overall simplicity, and powered adjustment of the machine centre line, which is useful for bundles that are not centred or where strapping off-centre is a regular requirement.
In addition, the squaring and strapping units are no longer designed as separate modules but are situated in one common welded steel plate machine body making it easier to install and move if required.
The integrated squaring-strapping concept uses variable frequency drives and the latest in brush-less dc technology.
Throughput capacity is 27 in-line bundles/ min, and the machine straps products with standard machine grade 5 to 9mm PP straps. Depending on machine type, maximum bundle widths are 1300, 1600 and 2000mm. Maximum bundle height is 350mm, the minimum is 30mm.
