Rotaflow supply a swivel joint for us in a Calor Gas carousel
At the centre of the Calor Gas carousel is a Rotaflow swivel joint allowing either butane or propane to fill each cylinder in turn.
The previous 12-station carousel system only filled butane. The new system allows them to fill butane and quickly switch over to fill propane, making the carousel more versatile and operates up to 16 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1 revolution per minute.
Rotaflow worked closely with Calor Gas to manufacture a multiport capable of transporting Butane and Propane as 2 separate flows with the added facility to divide each flow off into several directions. In addition a 3rd flow was required for compressed air to operate the control valves and filling heads on the carousel. Intermediate leak detection ports spanned by additional seals further improve the safety factor of the unit. A 4th passage drilled through the centreline of the multiport allows wires or fibre optics to be installed for future electronic or computer controls, as required.
