Rapidshield, a UV-curable floor coating system from Quaker Chemical, was chosen by Revs Motorsport when the company was renovating its workshop floor.
Quaker's floor coating system was chosen because of the reduced application and curing time it offers, as well as its durability.
Once applied to a prepared, clean floor, a portable unit emitting UV light ensures RapidShield cures instantly, turning the coating into a solid film which creates a strong bond to the substrate.
The durable gloss or matt finish is said to offer excellent chemical resistance and is ready to use within minutes of curing.
Based in The Netherlands, Revs Motorsport provides a range of specialist performance services to race and track.
As part of recent expansion, the company took over an adjacent industrial store, inheriting an uneven floor covered in cracks, pits and flaking paint.
Having used a planetary grinder to level the floor, and remove all paint, dirt and concrete laitance, two coats of RapidShield clear high build sealer/primer were applied.
The chosen pewter grey colour followed, with all the coats instantly cured with the Quaker UV equipment.
Special floor masks were laid down and red and black RapidShield applied to create the Rev’s logo within the floor system.
A clear top coat with a mild anti-slip additive was finally applied to provide a safe and secure surface underfoot and embed the logo within the floor.
Rev Motorsport’s, Managing Director, Patrick DeGroot commented: “RapidShield has delivered a quality floor, rapidly and reliably. The floor is a major element in our new workshop and it provides the aesthetic and day-to-day practicality we were looking for. We are delighted”.
