Voice sounders top o' the North
Over 300 Mini Fire-Cryer voice sounders from Vimpex have been installed in the North's tallest building, Bridgewater Place in Leeds, which locates 23,000ft2 of office space alongside 200 apartments, retail outlets and leisure facilities.
The sounders have been installed in all office accommodation to provide building-wide voice evacuation in the event of fire. The units were chosen by ADT Fire & Security for their clarity and ease of installation.The slim Mini Fire-Cryer sounder fits discreetly beneath the ADT detector bases for a low-profile detector/sounder combination.The Fire-Cryer's software allows a normal sounder circuit to broadcast up to seven separate user-defined messages along a single pair of wires.
When interfaced to an analogue fire loop via sounder controllers, the Fire-Cryer circuit can differentiate between alert and evacuation inputs, so with no user input the building can be evacuated by a two-stage alarm.
