Isopak gets seal of approval for new banding machine

Stamford based company Quay Pharma turned again to Isopak Ltd's technology when it needed a banding machine to seal capsules and prevent leakage.

Quay Pharma provides an outsourcing service for the development and testing of pharmaceutical products and was keen to offer the pharmaceutical industry a one-stop solution for the development and testing of liquid drugs. The company chose the BD 3000 capsule banding and sealing machine to complement the In-Cap capsule filling equipment it had already purchased from Isopak.

The BD 3000 can handle up to 3,000 capsules per hour, an impressive statistic which set it apart from its rivals because it was the perfect output for Quay Pharma's needs, according to production manager Robin Haynes.

A competitive price, past experience and a machine demonstration were key factors in sealing the deal.

Haynes said: 'Isopak delivered exactly what was needed in both capacity and cost. Some other suppliers we considered could not meet our output criteria. The BD 3000 can handle 3,000 capsules per hour which is the volume we required and of course it complements the In-Cap filling machine they had already supplied us with.

'The service we receive from Isopak is very good and they always respond to our needs quickly. I would certainly recommend them to other companies looking to purchase this type of equipment.'

Isopak's range of capsule fillers and sealers from Italian manufacturer Dott Bonapace are ideal for liquid capsules, but they also have the flexibility to be used on products which could be in powder or pellet form.

The BD 3000 capsule banding machine is fully automatic yet compact enough to allow for bench mounting while being easy to use, simple to strip down and clean yet quick to change from running one sized capsule to another by means of specific change parts.
